One box takes 3-4 days from start to finish with min 3 ladies involved in various processes. The grass is cut sun-bleached and then dried in the sun for 2 to 3 hours. The grass is then dyed with the desired organic dyes by boiling fuel used is waste grass as well as cow dung making the process 100% organic way. It is then rinsed in cold water & dried again to prepare it for making plaits/ropes . Following this 5-hour procedure grass plait is hand-stitched one row at a time into one Jewelry Box which takes two days or approximately 12 hours to have 1 pc ready. In the meantime in another village nearby the jewelry box lid and separator are made & it is assembled in SIKKI CRAFT office. The jigs / SOPs for processes are all given to everyone involved during the 3 year training done in the clusters by the NGO SIKKI CRAFT. The number of steps involved demonstrates the dedication of the artists. The use of certified organic colors that are devoid of chemical effects has been ensured after a lot of research done by the NGO. A "must-have" for every modern CONSCIOUS CONSUMER.
