Each pressure cooker made by Hawkins features an inside fitting lid. This design is inherently safer than conventional pressure cookers. To open any Hawkins cooker, you have to first lower the lid slightly into the body of the cooker; and that cannot be done until the steam pressure inside the cooker falls to a safe level. Thus Hawkins pressure cookers are pressure-locked for safety - like a jetliner door!

This cooker is not at all user friendly and it doesn't whistle like conventional cooker. Either the food will go burnt or it will through the food particles through Whistle. I regret buying this cooker. Please don't get attracted by its look. Most useless cooker ever made by Hawkins

Advantages
The cooker takes almost 1/5th of the time of a regular cooker, so it saves a lot of gas, what with the increasing gas prices. Cooks well and fast. Only catch is, there is no whistle . So it takes time to adjust to it , if you are used to the cooker whistle. Also , it lowers the time you spend in the kitchen .Worth every penny invested.
